Building-Structural and General Renovation
999 N 16th St
Omaha, NE

SIMCO had the opportunity to work current owner of the beauty of a building at 999 N 16th St. Originally built as Omaha Fire Department Hose Company No 4. in 1913 by Peter Kiewit & Sons.

Current owner wanted to continue his preservation and renovation of the building and the next step was to replace the main level floor and old structural beams and decking with new structural steel beams-douglas fir wood beams and decking with an arched opening in the main floor to allow for an open floor concept with the lower basement level. Original basement concrete floor was removed and almost 2’ of soil removed to allow for extra headroom in basement from structural wood and steel above, which included structural underpinning of existing footings. Projects like this don’t come along too often and it was a lot of fun to be involved.
